Project Overview

This project involves the air‑conditioning system for a laboratory animal center at a university in Nanjing. The scope covers core functional areas on the second to fourth floors of the experimental center, including animal housing rooms and behavioral laboratories, with a total usable area of approximately 2,400 m². As a fundamental support platform for life science research, the laboratory animal center imposes stringent requirements on environmental stability, air cleanliness, and pressure differential gradients. Fluctuations in temperature and humidity, microbial contamination, or pressure disturbances may directly affect animal health and the accuracy of experimental results.

   

Operation Modes

The project employs dedicated heat‑pump type liquid‑desiccant temperature and humidity control units designed for animal facilities. These units provide 100% fresh air to the relevant areas of the center while maintaining appropriate positive/negative pressure levels and indoor air cleanliness.

 

The units operate fully automatically 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and can automatically switch between summer, winter, and transitional (spring/autumn) operation modes to ensure they always run in the most efficient mode. The fresh air system, in coordination with air volume control dampers, room differential pressure switches, and variable frequency drives for fans, enables regulation and control of air volume and pressure within each zone. The liquid‑desiccant conditioning equipment comes with its own heating and cooling sources. By monitoring the indoor temperature and humidity in the service areas, it precisely adjusts the supply air parameters to meet the required stable indoor conditions.

   

Performance Demonstration

The equipment has been commissioned and is now in stable operation. Testing confirms that all units are performing well, and key indicators—including temperature and humidity, pressure differential gradients, and air cleanliness in all zones—fully meet the design requirements. The system provides a reliable environmental guarantee for laboratory animal husbandry and scientific research experiments.
